…:what we do at APictureLife in a nutshell:…

Jacob + Ruth: Michigan

i didn’t realize it at the time but 3 short months at north park university was all it took for a couple of crazy ladies to turn into my life long friends.

i met esther my freshman year of college at north park university, chicago.

she was the girl i described to brent as, “you know… the girl with the bottle of ABC gum on her desk?” and he’d say, esther? yes, esther.

that ABC gum may have been a conversation starter but it didn’t take long for deeper more meaningful conversations to start.

i quickly became a “regular” in esther’s room, we’d chat about school, life, and family. which is how i came to know of ruth.

better known to me as: ruthie goose.

when i received the email from ruthie that she was getting married, i was ecstatic! especially because she was asking me to photograph it!

of course i said, yes and within a few weeks i had the contract signed, flight booked, and i was ready for michigan.

ruthie and jacob put so much time and energy into their wedding.

she made the flowers,

center pieces,

favors for the guests,

pretty much anything that you see in purple 🙂

it was a pleasure to not only spend a few days with ruthie, jacob, esther, and their families but an honor to be a small part of such a big occasion.

i look forward to seeing these two grow in their marriage, friendship, and faith.

thank you ruthie goose and jacob

your wedding will have a special place in my heart for a very long time to come!

arriving for the rehearsal

wedding day!

hello marilyn monroe.

and then there’s the first look, i’m a sucker for “first looks”

i throw on my 70-200 and back as far away as possible

i know how important it is for couples to see each other for the very first time, whether it’s when she walks down the aisle or when they have time alone together before the ceremony

either way, i typically tear up and so do they.

it’s the most vulnerable time for not only the bride but the groom as well… and i get to capture that.

like i said, i’m a sucker.

ceremony time.

throw rice krispies?

not her.

whoops! i spoke to soon! she nailed them just before getting in the car!

and then there’s me, trying to get out of the way 🙂

what do you do when one of your bridesmaids has a baby RIGHT before your wedding??

improvise of course! ha.

they went straight for the cake… it was an ice cream cake !

We feel so lucky to have such a well-documented day by the best photographer! I would never have my xanga name if you hadn’t first called me “ruthiegoose”! 🙂 Thank you for all your hard work and kind words. The weekend could not have happened without you! I’ll be referring you to all my friends, so who knows if you will be back her for another shindig 🙂

    Much love, Ruthie & Jake
