lips and lotion
about 20 frames in and i can’t keep going without blogging this little number
you’re welcome
sam + grey
today, i share with you a new style of mine that i’ve been toying with.
i showed a bit of this sort of style with mark + sarah’s montana wedding
i’d say it’s a bit more relaxed.
no photo shop is used, i don’t really pose you, and it feels more like an experience rather than forced look.
let me know what you think.
i asked “sam + grey” to come out and try this session with me.
they obliged (i mean who wouldn’t want free pictures, right?) ha.
and so this is them, being awesome.
Sean + Nicole.
nicole & sean will be married this summer in north carolina
she, a southern belle
him, a southern californian
and “them” together couldn’t be better.
since the wedding will be in nicole’s home state of north carolina they chose to have their engagement photos taken here in southern ca
we headed out to villa park in orange county (sean’s alum) for their engagement session
it turned out beautifully.
don’t you agree?
see you in may!
Morgan & Ben
I couldn’t be more excited for Morgan and Ben’s little man to get here! Just a few weeks to go!
Industry Night: Intertwined and APictureLife Photography StLyE
A couple of months ago Meghan & Katie from Intertwined came to me with an idea. They wanted me to join them in a fun night out with the other ladies in our industry. We wanted it to be relaxing, fun, memorable, and of course FREE. Everything was on Intertwined and APictureLife- all the ladies had to do was show up. So this past month we made it happen!
The location we chose was Dry Bar at Fashion Island. We rented the entire space just for the night. It was such a pleasure hanging out with these ladies “outside” of a wedding day. In fact it was such a hit that we decided we needed to do something with our brides as well. THAT post will be up shortly!
Thanks for coming out ladies! We had a great time with each and everyone of you ! Looking forward to a great wedding season!

Sweet & Spicy: Part 1
One of our very favorite shoots to date was a style shoot for Utterly Engaged Magazine. We worked with some of the best in the industry to put together one HOT, SPICY, SEXY, session~Here is just the first half of what went on at the start of the day. Come back later… it will get hotter… I promise.
Special thanks to ALL of the amazing vendors that helped make this shoot PERFECT!

Sister Sister
The Beverage sisters: Brianna, Brooke, Brayden, Brylee, Brittany, & Brigette signed up for a Mom and Me Mini Session. It was quiet the challenge to get everyone in a photo individually and as a group in 30 minutes but we made it happen. I just so happen to get in a photo too! HAHA I know they will appreciate my humor in the photo below 🙂
Thanks for coming out girls- its always a pleasure~
Beverage Ladies
We are having so much fun with all of these “Mom and Me Mini Sessions”! I can’t wait to share more of the Beverage Family~
Torn Up Jeans- Crazy Boots- Legs for Days… Yep she’s a dancer
I photograph dancers a lot. I mean a lot. AND I love shooting them. They have to be the easiest people to photograph. They are so used to being on stage that being in front of a camera comes naturally to them. Case in point: Jenna from McCoy Rigby Entertainment. She called, we chatted, we booked the date. Our session was meant to be head shots and YES we got the head shots but then I got carried away (as I usually do with any willing participant).
The location was BOMB (yeah I said Bomb…it’s worthy of that title, trust me). Just look at the pictures and you’ll see it was a crazy good time. I left with a bleeding knuckle, mud in my shoes, and a camera full of goodness. Check it out.
Eating for Two
I know I say this often, but maybe not often enough just how blessed I feel being able to do what I love each and every day. This past weekend was one of those days where I felt blessed. It was pouring rain outside and I was super bummed to have to call Christina and Ryan to reschedule their shoot. However much to my surprise Christina said that there wasn’t a drop of rain near her house, so I headed on over. I had 2 great locations picked out (the first obviously was a no go with all the rain) but the second worked out perfectly. Christina and Ryan showed up looking perfect (wearing complementing colors without being too matchy matchy) and ready for whatever I had up my sleeves. We grabbed our stuff and headed on out.
The weather was great (yes there was some rain here and there but of course I had a purple umbrella with me that Christina rocked like a Loui Vuitton hand bag). And Ryan, well Ryan was just perfect. He held my reflector, blew bubbles at my camera, and was the adoring hubby to Christina that I met 2 years ago when shooting their engagement photos.
It was a blessing to shoot their engagement story, their wedding, and now the journey to their first child. I can’t wait to share those pictures on the blog in June!
Inspirational Italy
Europe is truly incredible. It is so easy to get inspired and so easy to enjoy yourself. All you need is to walk outside and you will find things to do, to interest you and inspire you. I(Amy)have attempted to bring in my inspiration from the beautiful florentine architecture, landscapes, lifestyle and fashion and apply it towards my personal work…Here are some studio shots that were inspired by the beauty I see every day in Florence!
Sam & Grey: Children’s Clothing
It all started with my black North face fleece and white sneakers (my uniform through all my years of college at SPU) that Erin and I met. She noticed me at our first “floor meeting” while living on 5th East Ashton Hall. She- a freshman and Me a Junior/Senior (after transferring schools 3 times you kind of lose track of what grade you’re in, especially in college). Anyway, we met, we hit it off, and the rest as they say… is history.
Erin finished at SPU just a few short years ago and now with much anticipation and longing for her to “get on it” she has finally taken her God given talents as a designer and has made children’s clothing. The line is new, it’s hip, it’s classy, it’s preppy, it’s… “Prepclassic”.. it’s Sam & Grey.
Dresses, skirts, overalls, bows and bow ties. It’s an arranged marriage made in designer heaven.
Erin describes Sam & Grey as “combining the boldness of several bright patterns with the structure of simple designs to create looks that are both classic and playful”.
Erin is preparing to launch Sam & Grey this May on Etsy. There she will feature short overalls for the boys (Sam’s) for all those rolling-down-a-hill kind of summer days. And for the Grey’s (girls) there will be no lack of whimsy and flounce, dresses that beg to be spun around in, and of course, a matching hair bow.
Below are a few shots of the beautiful Erin along with photos from a photo shoot we did featuring a couple of dresses and a skirt made by her.
If you are interested in having your child in the next photo shoot (boys ages 2-4 years old and girls 2-7 years old) or you would like more information on how you can pre-order clothing from Erin please contact us at: Ashley@APictureLife.com
Wet Weekend in CA= Lots of time to put together some new posts
As the rain starts to fall on this chilly Friday afternoon (yes Chilly for CA- all of you back east don’t make fun, we have thin skin here) I can’t wait to get away for the weekend and relax. As much as I was looking forward to a Nautical Themed Maternity shoot with Ashlee that will have to wait for the weather to clear up. So the hubby and I are heading up to Lake Arrowhead to enjoy the snow that should be falling now! I’ll be reading on my new NOOK and putting together some more blogs in hopes that I can catch up with all of the shoots we’ve been blessed with recently.
Check back Monday for a fun blog about this little lady: Erin Stanley future Designer of Sam & Grey a high end children’s line of clothing.
